Recipes for good design

My brochure, "Recipes for good design" was created for one of my design courses at SJSU. The inspiration comes after I was reading through my grandma's recipe books that were passed down to me. What I loved about these designs was that the graphics were so simple, yet so colorful. The experience of scanning through the book was fun, which to me, is a marker of good design.
I created this brochure to emulate the fun, wacky feel of these Filipino recipe books from the 70s. Here, I added a cream background to add a vintage feel. I utilized bubbly letters and vibrant colors for the illustration, just like in my grandma's cookbooks. I also used the font American typewriter to match the vintage aesthetic of the brochure.
